I've worked as a writer since I became the night police reporter at the Daily Record in Morristown, New Jersey. As a newspaper reporter for 16 years, I learned to write about everything from dairy farming to city government.
After working at the Democrat and Chronicle in Rochester for 12 years, I earned a master's degree in English and taught writing at the college level. But I missed writing on a daily basis and became a public relations writer at the State University of New York at Cortland.
I launched Versatile Writing in 2007 because I enjoy working with a variety of clients. I have written for colleges, universities, schools, hospitals, nonprofits, small businesses and marketing agencies around the world. My specialties are website content, magazine articles, blog posts, newsletters, white papers and press releases.
I have a master's degree from the State University of New York at Brockport and a bachelor's in American history and literature from the University of Chicago.
I live in Ithaca, New York, where I love to ski, play the flute in a community orchestra and walk my golden retriever. I also enjoy volunteering in my community and serve on the boards of the Public Relations Society of America Finger Lakes Chapter, the Ithaca Rotary Club and the Ithaca Area United Jewish Community.
